August 31st. I love it.

Let’s get right to it.

First up this week, “Rocky.” I love it. Thanks to Netflix, I spent all day today watching Rocky 1-5. I remember seeing parts of them all, but this was the first time I’ve sat down with the intention of actually watching. And can I tell you something? I loved it! Much better than I anticipated.

I love it.

Next up, “Mighty Ducks.” I love it. Again, thanks to Netflix, On Friday night I watched the first 2 Mighty Ducks movies. Netflix must know that I’ve been wanting to watch them, because I actually have been thinking about them  lot lately.

I love it.

Finally, baking. I love it. This week it was Elijah’s birthday, so I made him cupcakes. I can’t remember the last time I actually baked something that had more than one step, so I was pretty excited. And so was Elijah.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

August 24th. I love it.

Big improvement this week as far as the terribleness goes.

First up this week, building things. I love it. With less than 2 weeks until the first football game in the new stadium at Tulane, there are a lot of things that needed to be built. In three days, my crew and I built 11 benches, 4 oscillating misting fans, and 4 rolling white boards. Tack onto the the 2 golf carts that we fixed and it was quite a busy week. We still have a few more things to get together, but everything will be ready for the first game. Have no fear!

I love it.

Next up, sno-balls. I love it. I’ve lived in New Orleans collectively for over 2 years and I have never had one of the city’s staples – sno-balls. I had my first this week and let me tell you it was a game changer! Imagine a cut full of flavored snow; that’s all it is. It’s nothing like a sno-cone. It’s not bits of ice. It’s finer than that and much more enjoyable. I had cream soda and it was delicious. And perfect for a day where it was 100 degrees.

I love it.

Finally, “Gone Girl.” I love it. That was the book I read this week (or rather listened to –  got it from the library as an audiobook). 20 hours or listening, about 4 hours a night, I was left appalled, confused, and interested. The twists and turns were crazy. I have no idea how the author kept up with all of the details, or even came up with the idea. Furthermore, I have no idea how the movie will be less than 5 hours. So much information. Can’t wait.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

August 17th. I love it.

Better week. Not great, but not horrible.

First thing I love this week, reading. I love it. This week alone, I read 2 books. The first one was “Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters.” I absolutely love Rick Riordan and his books, so it’s no wonder why I breezed through it. Like “The Lightning Thief”, it’s so different from the movie and I know I like the book more, but the movie wasn’t bad. The second book was one I read today. “If I Stay.” I’d only intended to read for an hour, but I couldn’t stop so four hours later, the book was finished and I wanted more. Now I can see the movie next weekend because it gets released on Friday!

I love it.

Next up, movies. I love it. This week I saw two movies that I was very leery of because I was afraid they wouldn’t meet my high expectations. The first was the new TMNT movie. As a fan of the old one (and even the new cartoon), I was only worries because I thought the new turtles looked creepy. Once I got over that, I didn’t hate the movie like I really wanted to. Was it amazing? No. Did I enjoy it? Yes, so I guess that’s all that matters. The second movie I saw was “The Giver” which is one of my favorite books of all time Based on the previews, I knew it wouldn’t be close to the book, so I tried to go in with an open mind. Take away the book, the movie was actually really good. I know they have to make changes to make things more exciting for the movie but they took out some of the key relationships in my eyes and just grazed over some of the most powerful scenes. But as I said before, it you haven’t read the book, you’ll like the movie.

I love it.

Finally, homemade chinese. I love it. Diana is an excellent couponer and when she gets foods that she isn’t a fan of, she passes it along to me. Last week she gave me some Uncle Ben’s oriental rice. To spice it up a little, I made it into my own version of “Not fried rice”. I added chicken, scrambled eggs, and onions. It was to die for. I liked it so much last week that I made more for this week. Turns out that when I take the time to cook, I can make pretty great things.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

August 10th. I love it.

This week still wasn’t amazing, but it beat last week by a landslide.

First up this week, hanging with Rey. I love it. Jose and Diana were out of town this weekend, so I got to chill with my best dog friend. We watched a lot of TV, napped, and enjoyed each other’s company. I love having him around at night because I sleep so much better when there is a dog smushed up next to me, breathing in my ear. If I could be a dog owner every night from 10pm to 7am, I’d be a happy girl. For now, I’ll take Rey when I can.

I love it.

Next up, softball. I love it. Rey and I were getting a little antsy on Friday, so we went to the park early for my softball game. We were the secon game of the night so I figured I’d just watch the first game. Well, as it turns out, I got to play in that game because one team was short-handed. After playing one inning in the outfield, I was moved to pitcher, but that didn’t stop the Mudbugs troubles. I gave them very playable balls to field, but they still lost. When it was time for my team (the Ninjas) to play, we had one poor inning and kept them scoreless for the rest (I was warmed up well from the first game). We run ruled the team and are now 4-1 on the season. Can you say playoffs?

I love it.

Finally, “Friday Night Lights.” I love it. I started watching this on Netflix after a recommendation from my brother and I loved it. It only took me less than two weeks to finish I was hooked. I mean, five or six episodes a day, hooked. Seasons 1-3 were my favorite, and the finale left me with so many questions. We need a reunion episode! Well, after that marathon of binge watching, I’ve decided to stick to one new series a month on Netflix as not to let everything come behind wanting to watch TV. I think next month will be season 2 of “Hemlock Grove.” Any more suggestions?

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

August 3rd. I love it.

Despite the fact that this was a no-good, terrible, horrible week, I dug down deep and found some love.

First up this week, “Guardians of the Galaxy”. I love it. I will admit that I did not know the story really before seeing the movie, but I really liked it. I thought it was hilarious. Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket was probably the best part. I can’t wait until the next one.

I love it.

Next up, Five Guys. I love it. I’m on a new mission to try and eat at a new restaurant every week, because there is so many great places here in New Orleans. This week was Five Guys which I have heard nothing but good things about and I was not disappointed. Someone could have warned me about the portion sizes, though! So much food! Where should I eat this week?

I love it.

Finally, Christmas music. I love it. What makes me happy? Christmas? And after the terrible week I had it seemed only fitting that I jam out in my car to my favorite type of music. Yes, it may only be August, but who cares? The best way to spread cheer is singing loud for all to hear, right? That’s what I thought.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.
