January 25th. I love it.

Love. Love. Love.

First up this week, swim meets. I love it. I’ll admit that I’m usually not excited for swim meets because it’s a lot of setup and with all of the equipment, there is a lot that can go wrong. I am proud to report that this swim meet, the last of the year, went perfectly. All the equipment worked, Tulane won, and I didn’t fall into the pool. I also like swim meets because it’s the only event that I get to go shoeless.

I love it.

Next up, “Newsies.” I love it. I seriously love it. It’s been one of my favorite movies since I was 4 (and I would get it at the library every other week). We watched it today and it’s still amazing. I even listen to the soundtrack a lot. Like, a lot a lot. It’s just so good. I mean, a young, singing and dancing Christian Bale? What’s not to like?

I love it.

Finally, the King Cake Festival. I love it. It’s festival season in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is almost here and everyone is getting ready. The King Cake Festival was at Champions Square downtown. It was packed with people and what else? King cake! You could taste test all the samples from about 15 different vendors and then you voted on the best one. So much king cake. So good.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

Finding a Routine.

Everyone should know by now that I have OCD. If you don’t know that already, now you know.

While there are several things that I obsess about, routines are probably the most important ones to me. I’ve always been a stickler for routines; making sure I have lists of what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, and what I want to do. I plan everything out. Even my nights are planned in advance.

What I assign as an activity each night changes with time as my interests change. I thought you might be interested to know more about my current routine.

Monday night: homemade pizza night. It’s exactly what it sounds like.

Tuesday night: board game night. New game every week. One week it was Uno. Last week, Candy Land. Next week? Battle Ship or Sorry.

Wednesday night: video game night. I usually play my Xbox on the designated video game night, but we broke out the Game Cube this week and played “Mario Kart Double Dash” and “Super Smash Bros”.

Thursday night: movie night. Depending on what I want to see, this could be the night I go to the movies or maybe just watch a movie on Netflix.

Friday night: anything can happen Friday. This is the free-for-all night of the week. I could read for 5 hours, catch up on my shows, or do what we did last week: have breakfast for dinner.

Saturday night: date night. Again, this is a day we can do anything we want really. Last week we played outside and then got sushi and ice cream.

Sunday: reset Sunday. Sundays are my day to get back on track, get the house clean, do laundry, and catch up on things that I’ve been putting off. This is probably my favorite day of the week because I get a lot of stuff done while trying to get excited for the week ahead.

So I bet you’re wondering what happens when I have to work or something comes up to mess up these routines.

A year ago, if that would have happened, I would have fallen into a major panic attack. Now, thanks to being properly medicated and consciously trying to “go with the flow”, I’ve made great strides in accepting I can’t always do what I plan.

I don’t know how long this routine will last, but for now, it’s perfect.

January 18th. I love it.

Crazy good.

First up this week, “The Imitation Game.” I love it. Before the Oscars next month, I’m going to watch all of the movies nominated for best picture. This way, when it comes time for the award, I have an opinion based on all of the movies. Imitation Game was absolutely wonderful. Plus, it’s a true story which adds bonus points in my book. So interesting! So good!

I love it.

Next up, figuring out my routine. I love it. If you know me, you know I am all about routines. It’s been something I’ve been obsessed with for the longest time and every so often, depending on the circumstances, my routines change. Every night, I have something that I do. Mondays are homemade pizza nights, Tuesday is board game night, Wednesday is video game night, Thursday is movie night, Friday is “anything can happen” Friday, Saturdays are date nights, and Sunday is “reset Sunday”. I’m going to post a longer blog about all of this explaining, but I think it’s important that you know that we made delicious pizza on Monday, played Candy Land on Tuesday, played Game Cube on Wednesday, saw “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” on Thursday, had breakfast for dinner on Friday, and played catch, ate sushi, and got Cold Stone on Saturday. Pretty great, no?

I love it.

Finally, Marvel Universe Live. I love it. Brian got tickets to MUL for me for Christmas. I was so excited and I wasn’t disappointed. It was like watching a video game but live and in person. They even had dirt bikes. What? So cool. The best part was that I got to wear my cape. Yes, my custom made superhero cape. Best day ever!

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

January 11th. I love it.

Lots of love.

First up this week, “Unbroken.” I love it. After reading the book earlier this year, I couldn’t wait to see the movie. And it did not disappoint. It was pretty close to the book, which is always a good thing.

I love it.

Next up this week, playing Hoverball. I love it. Now Brittany got one for Christmas and I’ll be honest; I didn’t get it. What is the point of playing with half a ball instead of the entire thing? I get it now.  I bought one with my Christmas money and it’s great because it doesn’t leave the floor. There is no bouncing and breaking things. Perfect for an apartment. The only problem is that Brian beat me in our inaugural game, but since I will be able to practice more often, I should be able to take him next time.

I love it.

Finally, building forts. I love it. In the midst of watching football yesterday (and thanks to inspiration from Pinterest), we built a fort yesterday. Using three sheets, a couch, a chair, some cans of vegetables on my counters, and an ironing board, the fort could fit two comfortably and we could still watch the football games. Perfect Saturday night if you ask me.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

January 4th. I love it.

I’d like to apologize for the technical difficulties yesterday. This is my third attempt at writing and posting this blog so hopefully this works.

First up this week, buffalo chicken pasta. I love it. Since I’m back home and cooking on my own again, I put my crock pot to good use this weekend and made one of my favorite dishes; buffalo chicken pasta. It’s so easy to make and requires little to no attention, so the fact that I can put it together in the morning and forget about it until I’m hungry at dinner is a wonderful thing. Plus, it’s delicious.

I love it.

Next up, the “Annie” soundtrack. I love it. Since I bought it last week, it has been playing on repeat in my house, in my car, and I even listened to it on the plane ride back to NOLA. And I’ve been singing loud and proud which I am sure my neighbors are not too fond of, but at least they’re getting a break from the “Pitch Perfect” soundtrack, right?

I love it.

Finally, traditions. I love it. My New Year’s Eve tradition has not changed since I moved away from home. It starts with eating pizza and ice cream and ends with about 15 episodes of the original “Twilight Zone.” I usually don’t even make it to midnight, which is odd because the fireworks start going off in New Orleans around 6pm, but I made it this year. Does that mean I’m an adult?

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.
