June 28th. I love it.

Love, love, love, people! It’s everywhere.

First up this week, homemade food. I love it. I know that Brian and I cook a great deal of our meals at home, but having someone else cook for you can’t be beaten. Especially when the cook is my mom. She can make everything from bacon, pineapple dump cake, and stuffed shells, to pretty delectable brownies. Now it’s back to reality and back to work. Say it ain’t so!

I love it.

Next up, “Courage for Beginners.” I love it. I got this book from the library almost 3 weeks ago and I was afraid I wouldn’t finish it. Thanks to several plane rides and some very appealing writing, I finished it today. It is so good! It tells a story about a girl with an agoraphobic mother and her struggles in middle school. Definitely a recommended read.

I love it.

Finally, my travel companion. I love him. Brian was kind enough to come along with me on my adventure back home and I think he was overwhelmed but overall, enjoyed it. The trip included (but wasn’t limited to) Kan Jam, multiple barbeques, river walking, the beach, sunsets, star gazing, camp fires, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, PNC Park, Indians games, the Hooligans, golf, the zoo, meeting a puppy, board games, food, books, ice cream, and so much more. He’s a great person to travel with! I can’t wait to do more traveling with him soon!

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

June 21st. I love it.

Crazy fun week, people. Listen up.

First up this week, Skip-Bo. I love it. If you haven’t heard of this card game, you should at least try it out from the App Store. It’s super fun and addicting and easy to learn. I managed to keep me very entertained while I was on the plane heading to Cleveland (for the second time this week), Now I’m trying to decide if I should get Phase Ten and Uno, too. So many choices!

I love it.

Next up, baseball games. I love it. After getting free tickets to the Indians game last minute, we went downtown today so Brian could experience the wonderfulness that is Progressive Field. And we wanted to do something fun with my dad for Father’s Day, too. The weather was beautiful, the renovations to the park are fabulous and it’s still in my top three favorite parks of all time.

I love it.

Finally, fires. I love it. I do have a fireplace at home but it’s inside and only usable during the winter (unless you want to sweat your butt off). Because I’m home for the week in a place where we can do whatever we want, we ended the day yesterday with a fire in the backyard. And you better be sure there were s’mores, music, and star-gazing.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

And the news is good today!

Sunday was just like any other Sunday. I spent the day hanging out with Brian, talked to my mom on the phone, and walked down the street to get a sno-ball (because it was sno-ball Sunday, of course). On our way back to the apartment, I got a phone call from my brother. I’d been talking to him sporadically all day because he was heading home to Ohio to surprise my dad. Monday night was going to be his last game with the Lake County Captains and he wanted to be there. And I wanted to be there too, but it didn’t seem possible because I was planning on going home this Saturday, anyway.

My dad is kind of a big deal in our community, so of course everyone was going to give him a great send off. Once we found out more of the details of how they were going to “honor” my dad, I knew I had to get home for it. With a lot of coordination, perfect flight times from Southwest, and a bunch of help from my brother, I made it to Ohio in time to surprise my dad at lunch.

I was so glad I made it back for the celebration. Not only did the recognize my dad for the awesome individual he is, but the front office signed a beautiful picture of the ballpark, the team signed a bat, and they’re even naming the broadcast booth after him.

What I loved most about the day was seeing how emotional people were getting and how much love were sending his way for his new journey (he’s going to open a restaurant). The support is amazing and it seems like he’ll get a lot of visitors from his fans.

June 14th. I love it.

Hello, world.

First up this week, holding baby gators. I love it. On Friday, I took the day off to go on a swamp tour with Brian and his parents. It was totally cool! We saw a bunch of gators, raccoon, crows, and garfish. Do you know what they like to eat? Marshmallows. Yep. True story. They followed the boat waiting for treats. then at the end, we got to hold a baby gator! Yay!

I love it.

Next up, feeding turtles. I love it. I went to the zoo this weekend, too, and Brian was kind enough to loan me 50 cents to we could feed the turtles. They were crawling all over each other trying to get at the pellets, but the ducks were way faster than them. They gobbled everything up before most of the turtles got a turn. Next time, I’ll try to scare the ducks away so they don’t get any.

I love it.

Finally, hanging out in the video office. I love it. I go and visit Travis, Jamie, and Brian to hear the gossip and get the details of the latest goings-on. That’s the only way I can stay current on Tulane events.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

June 7th. I love it.

You’ve probably noticed a changes, but stay with me.

First up this week, Tomorrowland. I love it. I didn’t hear great things about this movie, but I was willing to give it a try. I absolutely loved it! George Clooney? Yes! Hugh Laurie? Yes Yes! It’s a really interesting way to think about the future and it all changes with perspective. That’s the kind of conversations I have with my brother all the time.

I love it.

Next up, ice cream. I love it. Or more specifically, peanut butter cookie and cookie dough ice cream from Dairy Queen. It’s total perfection in a paper cup. It’s got two of my favorite things in it and after see commercials for it I had to try it. I think it’s my new favorite! I also found a new favorite sno-ball flavor; sour apple. Yum!

I love it.

Finally, my new and improved website. I love it. You’ll notice that the URL has changed, but the content has not. I was having issues with Weebly (as seen by last week’s I love it mess), so I made the switch to WordPress. I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far and I still have some tinkering I want to do to make this page mine. You can find all of my posts now at http://www.blogbycarolyn.com
