October 30th. I love it.

Whirlwind week, friends!

First up this week, my Halloween costume. I love it! My mom is a dream maker so when I asked her to make me a Hufflepuff Quidditch robe last month, she went to task. This robe is amazing! It looks official and actually has a Gufflepuff patch on it! I’m pairing it with some Hufflepuff sweats and a t-shirt. So excited!

I love it.

Next up, seeing Bud! I love it! I’ve been thinking about doing it for a while, but thanks to some awesome people at work. I was able to take a road trip to visit Bud. I hadn’t seen him since August 7th and the thought of waiting another month was actually making me an emotional wreck. I drove 13 hours (should have been 11) and got to North Carolina early on Saturday (like, 2am). It was long but totally worth it! My dad even made a cameo yesterday to watch the World Series with us. I haven’t been more than a few steps away from Bud since I got here which will make leaving in the morning even harder.

I love it.

Finally, experiencing fall. I love it. Louisiana doesn’t really have a fall season, but Boone does! Since I’ve been here I’ve been overwhelmed with the colors of the trees and the mountains! I was also really glad that Bud and I were able to carve a pumpkin together (I wasn’t going to do one until to decided to visit). Plus, with my body type, I thrive in the colder weather so I was okay with the chilliness. I really miss changing seasons!

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

October 23rd. I love it.

Yay, love.

First up this week, getting my iPad fixed. I love it. I was dumb and accidentally broke my iPad last Friday and after moping about it all weekend, I got it fixed on Tuesday. It cost a pretty good amount, but way less than it would have to buy an all new iPad. I even treated myself to a new (hopefully more protective) case. The one I got makes my tablet look like it’s actually a composition notebook. So cool.

I love it.

Next up, bike rides. I love it. Today I decided to not be lazy so I took my bike to the levy for a ride. It was beautiful weather. I don’t know how far I went (but I was exhausted by the end) but I kept my bike in my car so maybe I can go again this week.

I love it.

Finally, my new toothbrush. I love it. I’ve had a lot of trouble with my teeth in the past. Not only are my front teeth bonded, but lately I’ve been battling really bad stains that won’t go away no matter what I do. I took it upon myself this weekend to do some research about a toothbrush that would help me out and I found it. Oral-B Optic White toothbrushes have polishing bristles that help remove stains. I’ve only been using it for three days but I can already tell the difference in my teeth. I think this means I need to use the entire Oral-B Optic White system. I’ll keep you updated.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

October 16th. I love it.

Hooray!

First up this week, finding a new place to live. I love it. Now that Bud is living in NC, I needed to find a new place. This week I took to the streets (or the internet) to find a smaller place that fits my needs better than the giant two bedroom, two bathroom place. I signed all of the paperwork this week for a nice little studio that Yogi, Maisy, and I will be living in for now. It’s a load off my mind that I have a plan. We know how much I like plans.

I love it.

Next up, book sales. I love it. The bi-annual Jefferson Parish Library Book Sale was this weekend I got some great deals! 15 books for $12.50. I even brought Curtis along to share in the magic that is an entire room full of books, puzzles, and music. This is one of my favorite weekends in the fall and I can’t wait until the next one in April!

I love it.

Finally, dinner dates over the internet. I love it. Bud and I had a FaceTime dinner. He watched football, I watched Gilmore Girls. I miss having dinner with him every night and I miss making dinner with him even more. It’s one of my favorite things we do together (especially pizza night) so I can’t wait to see him around Thanksgiving.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

October 9th. I love it.

Yay love.

First up this week, hanging out with friends. I love it. Yesterday’s big plans with Jose, Diana, and Lupita was to go to Beignet Fest and stuff our faces with 30 different variations of beignets. After taking the street car downtown, we arrived to a massive amount of people in Lafayette Square. We wandered around for a little while but actually never ate a beignet because you had to buy everything with tickets. The problem with this is that the line for tickets was ridiculous and then the line for beignets was even longer. And there was no way to figure out what you were waiting in line for anyway. We made the best of it, though, and had Pumpkin Spice pancakes at IHOP.

I love it.

Next up, deep cleaning. I love it. I had to do my reset Sunday today but I got a little carried away and did a major deep clean. I did both bathrooms, the kitchen (which really needed it), both bedrooms, living room, 3 loads of laundry and emptied 2 cans of trash. I seriously think that the pumpkin spice lattes from McDonald’s has something in it that makes me ultra productive.

I love it.

Finally, Gilmore Girls. I love it. Today alone, I’ve watched basically the entire 5th season. What I love about this show is that it is something everyone in my family loves. This even sparked a conversation amongst the Deas Siblings about who Rory should have ended up with. I think that she should have ended up with Marty, but since she never actually dated him, I’m totally Team Logan. It’s a house divided, but that’s what makes life interesting.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

Book Review: Where Am I Now?

You all know who Mara Wilson is, even if you don’t realize it. She is best know for her roles at Natty in “Mrs. Doubtfire” and Matilda in the movie based off of the book of the same name. Based on the information I’ve gathered by following her on Twitter for a while is that everyone had a crush on her at one time.

I waited all summer to read this book and I’m proud to say I was the first person to get the book from the local library.

In her memoir that just came out, she gives us a glimpse into the life of a child actor. It includes learning about new things at a young age (sex, I’m just going to say it, sex), dealing with losing a parent, and finding out that Hollywood may no longer want you.

My favorite chapter was when she writes a letter to the character Matilda and apologizes for hating her at one point. She didn’t realize that the character meant so much to so many people and she isn’t ashamed to be recognized as the little book worm anymore.

What I love about this book is that is dives deep into issues that most people don’t want to talk about. She was diagnosed with OCD at a young age after she read the book “Kissing Doorknobs” and brought it to her father’s attention. Likewise, I realized I had OCD and Asperger’s Syndrome after watching the TV show Parenthood. That’s why it’s important for people to speak up about their mental illnesses. It lets people know they aren’t alone and may make them realize that they need help.

Mara has come to terms with her time in Hollywood, but she’s staying busy by writing and being an active member in the community.

October 2nd. I love it.

Hooray for Fall!

First up this week, pumpkin spice lattes. I love it. Yesterday was the first day of October which in my book is the start of fall so a pumpkin spice latte from McDonald’s was totally necessary. It was perfect. It made me feel very festive which led me to decorate for Halloween in my apartment, too. Halloween is my favorite!

I love it.

Next up, “Once Upon a Time.” I love it. I actually gave up watching it about midway through last season because they were in the Underworld and I found it kind of dull. But because my sister has a newfound love for this show and kept wanting to talk about it, I used yesterday to catch up. It did get better as the season went on so I’m all caught up to watch the new season now! Besides, I missed staring at Colin O’Donoghue (aka Captain Hook).

I love it.

Finally, working on my book. I love it. I’m dedicating the month of October to finishing a middle grade novel I started writing in 2010. I’ve worked on it sporadically because I’ve been having so much trouble with what the underlying story is and I didn’t have an ending. Thanks to some coffee induced motivation, I finally figured it out! I can’t type for long because my hands start to go numb, but I made some helpful revisions today. Now, I have a month to finish it so I can send it to publishers!

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.
