My Word for the Year

A few weeks ago, my sister and I went to a conference in Asheville, NC. I was skeptical about the whole thing but my mind has changed. There’s something so empowering and reinvigorating about being around like minded people. People who are passionate physical educators, motivators, and inspirations.

One of the keynotes during the conference was from PhysEdagogy, a group of Phys. Ed. teachers out to change the world. They challenged us to think of a word that we would live up to this school year. Some people wrote “passion”. Some wrote “motivate” and others wrote “fun.”

The word I picked is “ENJOY.”

This is only my second year of teaching and right when I thought I had it down, things changed on me. They way I’ll be teaching this year will be strange to me (teaching the entire middle school at one time instead of separate classes for 6th-8th). I’ve been stressed out about this transition since it was brought up in March and it’s still something I’m not so sure about.

But you know what?

I’m going to enjoy this year.

I’ll enjoy my students.

I’ll enjoy the time I have teaching.

I’ll enjoy this new challenge and all that it brings me.

I’m not going to stress about what I can’t control and go with the flow.
