The Perks of Disney Movie Club

Chances are that if you’ve bought a Disney movie in the past 5 years, you’ve noticed the little piece of paper that they stick in all of the DVD cases promoting the Disney Movie Club. If you were like me and ignored them, that’s fine, but out of curiosity about 6 months ago, I actually decided to look into it.

I thought it would be a scam. They offer you 4 Disney movies for $1 each if you join the club. Then you can add on two more movies for a total of $25. So an initial investment of about $35 once you pay shipping.

I was still on the fence. I needed more information. After some digging (the fine print was hard to understand), the only thing you needed to do to get the rewards and discounts on Disney movies was to purchase 5 Disney movies at the membership price. Better yet, you have 2 years to reach this commitment.

Thinking of all of the movies I want to buy and being perfectly okay with buying 5 movies at a certain price, I went for it.

I was not disappointed.

I got the 6 movies that I requested when I signed up really quickly. The first 10 movies that I bought actually cost me less than $75 and I even used my Disney Rewards points to get free movies like “The Jungle Book” and more recently, “Wall-E.”

They send you monthly emails with the movie that is being featured and you can “Accept” or “Decline” the offer. I’ve accepted a couple of them and these movies go towards your fulfillment commitment. They also send you extras like lithographs for your collection.

I’m only 6 months into my commitment and I’ve already gotten 4 of the movies I’m required to get. I like to think of this as a subscription box. Instead of getting mystery items every month that you may or may not like or use, you know exactly what you’re getting with this.

Guess what?

If you’re interested in joining, let me know! I can give you a code! In fact, every time you refer someone, you get 2 free movies!

Need I say more?

April 2nd. I love it.

How is it April already, friends?

First up this week, sno-balls. I love it! It’s finally sno-ball season and if you don’t know what they are, think snow cones but way better. I went to my ferrite stop yesterday, Ro-Bear’s, with Lupita, Sonia, and Diana. I actually went with the intention of getting an orange flavored one but as you can expect with so many different choices, I changed my mind 7 times while waiting in line and ended up getting sour apple. So good!

I love it.

Next up, barbecues. I love it. While hanging out with my favorite friends yesterday (see above paragraph), I noticed that they had a grill. Apparently they’d had it for a while and I was too daft to notice so this prompted the idea of having a cook out! We had burgers and corn on the cob and my favorite kind of potato chips. I even got to love on Sonia for the first time (every other time I’d seen her since she was born 2 months ago, I was sick or just staying for a minute). Family dinner nights are my favorite!

I love it.

Finally, baseball season. I love it. Baseball is officially back! Today, I’m watching the Ray and Yankees play. It’s fun to see Chris Archer, one of my favorite on the mound. I’m glad I have something to watch again!

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.

August 7th. I love it.

This was my last full meek with Bud for who knows how long, so we made sure to make it great!

First up this week, seeing friends. I love it. On Friday, Bud and I went to Jose and Diana’s for dinner. Homemade lasagna. O. M. Goodness. I asked her to make that from the list of options she gave me so Bud could have his favorite food made right. Our attempts at making lasagna have all be relative failures. After dinner we watched “Yours, Mine, and Ours” which is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. Speaking of childhood, Diana and Jose are having another baby! I’m so happy for them!

I love it.

Next up, “Jason Bourne.” I love it. This week’s movie might be one of my favorites from this summer. We’ve spent the last week or so watching all of the Bourne movies (even Legacy) so we would know the ins and outs of the movies. As usual, there’s not a lot of talking, but there’s a lot of running and hiding. It also takes place in Vegas some, which is cool now that I know where they are on the Strip because I’ve been there!

I love it.

Finally, Sunday Fundays. I love it. Today was a typical Sunday for us. We slept in late, got breakfast at Caffe Latte Da (our favorite), spent the day at the zoo, and got ice cream and snowballs on the way home. Plans for tonight? Pizza Hut and the Olympics. Pretty perfect day if you ask me.

I love it. It’s great. Everything’s great.

I love it.
